Introduction

The position of the RMPA National Chair will become vacant at the 2026 AGM, due to the existing Chair stepping down in accordance with the Association Rules.  All members of the Association are eligible to apply for the position, and in order to ensure that the best candidate is selected the Trustees have put together a recruitment process, which will allow individuals to apply well in advance of the AGM. 

All applicants must have served with RMP, AGC RMP or WRAC Provost and the role will also require the individual to serve as a Trustee of the Association. Trustees are appointed for a period of 8 years and the National Chair tenure will be for 3 years.

Although there are no formal qualifications required to become a trustee of a charity, there are however guidelines on people’s eligibility on holding the position and that they meet HMRC’s requirements to be considered a “Fit and Proper Person”.  The link below provides information regarding what this entails:

Selection Process Due Diligence

The role of the National Chair is a key position for the Association and the selection process we have put in place will hopefully provide applicants with a more detailed overview of the requirements and level of commitment by them for the role. As part of the due diligence process, applicants will be required to confirm that they meet the required standards outlined in the Charity Commission and government guidelines, which are on the links above.

Online & AGM Ballots

For the first year we will allow members to vote for their chosen applicant online prior to the AGM, which will open voting up to the wider community than just those attending the AGM. Voters will be able to register to vote online from January with control measures in place to ensure one person one vote process with the online votes added to the in person ballot taken at the AGM.

Candidate Presentations

Historically prospective applicants have given a short presentation at the AGM as part of the selection process, this will now be pre-recorded and available online and used at the AGM so all voters are basing their decision on the same information
