The Royal Hospital Chelsea is an Old Soldiers’ retirement and nursing home for some 300 veterans of the British Army. King Charles II founded the Royal Hospital as a retreat for veterans in 1682.
Royal Military Police (RMP) Veterans are eligible to become Chelsea Pensioners, who receive care and accommodation at at the Royal Hospital Chelsea. To be eligible, individuals must be in receipt of their state pension, have served in the British Army (regardless of rank), be free of any financial obligations to a spouse or family, and be able to live independently.
