The Royal Hospital Chelsea is an Old Soldiers’ retirement and nursing home for some 300 veterans of the British Army.  King Charles II founded the Royal Hospital as a retreat for veterans in 1682.

Royal Military Police (RMP) Veterans are eligible to become Chelsea Pensioners, who receive care and accommodation at at the Royal Hospital Chelsea. To be eligible, individuals must be in receipt of their state pension, have served in the British Army (regardless of rank), be free of any financial obligations to a spouse or family, and be able to live independently.  The Corps currently has one of the largest contingents at RHC, to find out further information please use the link below.

Dave ‘Scouse’ Godwin is 73 and served 25 years in the Corps and was a Company Sergeant Major when he left. He became a Chelsea Pensioner in 2019

Dave ‘Higgy’ joined the Army in 1974 originally in the Catering Corps and transferring to RMP in 1981 leaving the forces in 1998.  He became an in Pensioner in 2024.
