Obituary For Douglas Lawson

Our Association received news of the recent passing of Doug Lawson, who sadly died at home in Hambleton Yorks on Sun 6th September 2026.
Doug joined RMP in 1964. Returning from Hong Kong in 1983 to 174 Pro Coy RMP where he took redundancy and moved with his wife Lyn (Ex WRAC Pro) to Hambleton.

On leaving the Corps Doug rebuilt the family house in North Yorkshire and started a business selling Snap on tools. The family travelled extensively on holidays, including India immediately after the tsunami, taking a case full of equipment for the children. The favourite holidays for many years was camping in France as the food was a great influence. He had a passion for restoring classic cars, in particular Citreon 2CV.

He retired early in 2007 after his wife surprised him with clearing the mortgage early, which allowed them to downsize and buy a bungalow in the countryside.
Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with COPD in 2023 and he finally succumbed to the disease on 6 September 2026, a week short of his 80th birthday.

He leaves a wife of 50 years, Lyn, he will be desperately missed forever.
